ETF Investing is Another Investment Opportunity for You

96 Maison de FéeThe movers and shakers of Wall Street have come up with so many financial innovations over the past decades that help them earn more money than ever. Some of the products they have created include interest-only mortgage, auction rate securities and credit default swaps.  For small time middle class investor though, the rules don’t apply as they usually stay away from new products. Better safe than sorry is actually okay but it actually restricts you from investing in some sound financial deals that would help you earn a pretty bundle. One such financial investment opportunity is ETF investing. Exchange traded funds isn’t new as it has been in the market for almost 20 years.

Financial reports of the past year included the closure of about 20 to 30 established ETF’s. It doesn’t mean though that ETFs are the only investment products that have been having problems because it’s not. In fact, compared to other investment products, ETF’s are more stable compared to others. About a hundred new ETFs have been yearly and in America alone, over a trillion dollars have already been invested.

So what exactly are ETF’s? These are mutual funds traded on the stock market. Short term investors who rotate their funds gain a lot from ETF trading. Long term investors can find a lot to like as well. They have the versatility to perform a lot of portfolio functions.

Mutual funds are expensive though as managers may charge as much as 1.5% of your portfolio’s value just to manage them while ETF’s charges are only a third of that value. Selling and buying of ETF’s are also cheaper so commissions as well are cheaper due to providers’ price wars.

The great thing about ETF’s is that it gives you control on your taxes. You can sell your ETF’s if you want to get rid of it. As they are being traded on the stock market, raising cash to redeem them would not pose a problem. There would be no chance that you will be getting capital gains distribution at the end of a fiscal year. In order to control your taxes in the right way, invest in ETF’s with the right kind of securities as ETG’s invested in gold are taxed as much as 28%.

ETF’s are great investment opportunities though there are other opportunities where you can invest your money. You can also Refinance Interests Only Loan .
